Project Description

2006/2007 Parking Garage Rehabilitation

In October 2006 Albatech Building Restoration Inc. started  6720 Glen Erin Drive Parking Garage Rehabilitation Program.

The Parking structure at 6720 Glen Erin Drive is a 2-1/2 stand-alone garage with 1-1/2 suspended levels and one on grade parking level.

The total area of this garage is approximately 66,500 sq. ft., of which 41,500 sq. ft. is suspended slab. The structural system of this garage is cast-in-place reinforced concrete with 240 mm thick reinforced two-way flat slabs supported by rectangular columns and foundation walls. The lager suspended split –levels are divided in two by means of an expansion joint.

The 2006 project started with the mobilization and set up of the site.

Structural repairs included localized replacement of deteriorated concrete on the slab surface of the suspended parking levels (approximately 1,300 square feet), localized soffit/through-slab repairs (aaproximately 1,200 sq. ft.) with 35 MPa Silica Fume concrete and localized vertical wall/column repairs.

Removal of the deteriorated bottom course of the parapet block walls on levels 4 and 5 and installation of a new concrete curb was required as a part of structural program.

At the midpoint of the suspended slabs, a new Watson Bowman Acme, Wabocrete/Membrane 101 System Type ME-300 Gland Seal expansion joint system was installed (62 lineal feet each).

As a part of this program an upgrade of existing drainage system was required and 14 new floor drains were installed with 100 lineal feet of new drain piping.

In the spring of 2007  the entire area was shot blasted to provide a clean substrate and concrete surface sealer was installed.

New traffic markings and line painting for all garage levels have completed 2006/2007 Parking Garage Rehabilitation project.
